Brake, transmission, exhaust and glass work is often done by specialty shops that see the same job dozens of times a week. Brake shops replace pads and rotors the same day and usually inspect for free; transmission shops rebuild or replace automatics and clutches, a multi-day job that deserves a second quote; muffler and exhaust shops weld custom pipes and replace catalytic converters, which in many states must meet emissions rules. Alignment and suspension shops fix pulling, uneven tire wear and worn shocks, and radiator shops handle overheating and cooling-system leaks. Auto glass shops replace windshields, often at your home or office, and recalibrate the driver-assistance cameras mounted behind the glass. Window tinting and car audio shops round out the group.

Richard and Carlton are stand up guys. Had gotten stuck purchasing an actuator my mechanic was supposed to replace but couldnt. Called into AAMCO and they quoted me a fair price and let me know that even though this might not fix my transmission issue, they'll go ahead and approve my request. They're on the job now and I'm more then grateful. Appreciate all these gentlemen here at AAMCO. Customer Service is above and beyond.

AAMCO saved my cars life. The previous people I had look at my car couldn't figure out what was wrong. So I took it to the professionals at AAMCO and they instantly figured out what the problem was. Richard and Mike explained to me the process on replacing my transmission. I asked if they could also fix the rest of the issues with my car after the transmission was completed. They had no problems doing it. Now it feels like I have a brand new car. I will be taking my car to this AAMCO from now on. They are very trustworthy and honest which is hard to find. I will definitely send referrals their way. Thank you again AAMCO your service is greatly appreciated.

Stopped for diagnostic and learned a few things. Being a female, it felt to leave more knowledgeable and not feel dumb. That's a big one considering most of the mechanics ive gone to in the last 10 years, weren't always the best at that. But everyone at this location that I spoke to was very professional, forthcoming and all-around a nice group of men. Thanks again for all of your help. In the end, I found a mechanic closer and more manageable but I will keep this spot high on my list. :-)

I really tried to be patient while dealing with this AAMCO, but my experience was incredibly disappointing—especially under a warranty claim. After getting work done at an AAMCO in Arizona, my van started misfiring when I arrived in California. I brought it to this Long Beach location and was told the misfires were on cylinders 1, 2, and 4, but they “specialize in transmissions” and recommended I go elsewhere. They pushed me off to other AAMCOs, and I replaced several parts, only to later discover—thanks to a trusted mechanic—that the real issue was spark plug wires burned from improper routing during the original AAMCO service. When I tried to bring the issue back to the Long Beach AAMCO (again, under warranty), they told me their general mechanic was out for a week and recommended I call other shops. Later, I was told (by a separate AAMCO shop) that they would call me and do the work after all. No one called me back. I had to chase them down and schedule the follow-up myself. When I finally got there, I asked the manager, Richard, how long the spark plug wire swap would take. Instead of giving a straightforward answer, he got defensive, interrupted me, and insisted he wasn't

I'd like to share my wonderful experience at the AAMCO location. I am giving them a five-star review based on the exceptional overall experience with their team. My vehicle happens to be an older model Nissan, and the team knew exactly how to assist me in diagnosing the root cause of the problem and getting me back on the road swiftly. Yesterday, I decided to take my car on a cruise down to San Diego, and to my delight, I didn't encounter any issues. In fact, I noticed improved performance compared to before. I am truly grateful to the team for taking care of my transmission problems. Thank you once again!
